Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination regimen of three drugs: - **ISIS EIF4E Rx** is an antisense oligonucleotide targeting the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E), developed by Ionis Pharmaceuticals (formerly known as ISIS Pharmaceuticals). The drug inhibits translation of eIF4E mRNA and is being investigated as a targeted therapy for cancer. - **Docetaxel** is a small molecule taxane-class chemotherapeutic agent that promotes microtubule stabilization, inhibiting cell division and inducing apoptosis, widely used in solid tumors including metastatic prostate cancer. - **Prednisone** is a synthetic glucocorticoid steroid used for its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant effects; in prostate cancer, it also suppresses adrenal androgen production and provides symptom palliation. This combination represents an experimental regimen studied especially in castration-resistant prostate cancer, based on the addition of ISIS EIF4E Rx to the established docetaxel plus prednisone backbone.
