Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**ISO 24444:2010 P2 Standard Reference Sunscreen** is a standardized topical reference sunscreen formulation specified for validating in vivo sun protection factor testing under ISO 24444:2010. It is a laboratory control material rather than a proprietary therapeutic product. The formulation is applied to volunteers' skin alongside test products before controlled ultraviolet exposure; the resulting minimal erythema response is used to confirm that the SPF assay is performing within acceptance criteria. P2 is a nominal SPF 15-class reference sunscreen, commonly reported with an SPF range of approximately 14 to 17. It was used as the positive-control comparator in GSK's NCT04749459 study of ChapStick Moisturizer lip balms.
