Overview

Isoniazid + pyridoxine is a fixed-dose combination of two small molecule drugs used primarily in the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis (TB). Isoniazid acts as an antimycobacterial agent by inhibiting the synthesis of mycolic acids, essential components of the mycobacterial cell wall, leading to bacterial death. Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is included to prevent or reduce peripheral neuropathy, a common side effect associated with isoniazid therapy. This combination improves patient adherence and safety by reducing pill burden and minimizing neurological adverse effects[4][9][8]. It may be used alone or as part of multidrug regimens for TB management.
