Isoproterenol + prednisolone is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents with distinct mechanisms of action. Isoproterenol (also known as isoprenaline) is a potent, non-selective beta adrenergic receptor agonist that stimulates both beta-1 and beta-2 adrenergic receptors, leading to increased heart rate, cardiac output, and bronchodilation. It is primarily used in the management of bradycardia (slow heart rate), heart block, Adams-Stokes attacks, bronchospasm during anesthesia, and as adjunct therapy in various types of shock[1][3][5][8]. Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It acts by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor to modulate gene expression and suppress inflammatory responses. Prednisolone's primary indications include treatment of adrenocortical insufficiency, various inflammatory conditions (such as asthma or arthritis), autoimmune diseases, allergic reactions, and some cancers[2][4]. The combination may be used when both cardiovascular support/bronchodilation and anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive effects are required.
