Overview

Isoquercetin + aspirin is a combination of two agents with antiplatelet and antithrombotic properties. Isoquercetin (also known as quercetin-3-O-glucoside) is a flavonoid glycoside derived from quercetin, found in various fruits and vegetables. It exhibits anticoagulant effects by inhibiting protein disulfide isomerase activity, reducing platelet aggregation, and attenuating blood coagulation[3][5]. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), thereby suppressing thromboxane A2 production and inhibiting platelet activation. Studies have shown that isoquercetin or its metabolites can synergistically enhance the antiplatelet effects of aspirin more-than-additively[2][6], suggesting potential for improved prevention of thrombosis or cardiovascular events when used together. This combination has been investigated for conditions such as pre-eclampsia[1], sickle cell disease-related thromboinflammation[5], and general thrombosis risk reduction.
