Overview

This is a **combination regimen of ispinesib (SB-715992) and docetaxel** used in cancer therapy research. - **Ispinesib (SB-715992)** is a potent allosteric small-molecule inhibitor of kinesin spindle protein (KSP, also known as Eg5), an ATPase motor protein essential for bipolar mitotic spindle formation and cell cycle progression through mitosis. Ispinesib blocks proliferation by arresting cells in mitosis, ultimately inducing apoptosis. - **Docetaxel** is a taxane-class antineoplastic agent that promotes microtubule assembly and stabilization, inhibiting mitosis and leading to apoptotic cell death. It binds to beta-tubulin subunits, preventing microtubule depolymerization. This combination has been studied in early phase clinical trials for advanced solid tumors, including hormone-refractory prostate cancer and other advanced cancers. Preclinical studies have suggested potential for synergistic antitumor activity.
