Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ISTA Tears is a sterile ophthalmic solution originally developed by ISTA Pharmaceuticals (later acquired by Bausch & Lomb) for the symptomatic relief of dry eye disease. It is formulated as a lubricant eye drop, typically containing active ingredients such as glycerin and hypromellose, which serve to supplement the natural tear film. By providing moisture and lubrication to the ocular surface, ISTA Tears helps to alleviate irritation, redness, and discomfort associated with tear film instability and environmental factors. It was evaluated in clinical preference studies against other major lubricant brands like Systane to assess patient comfort and ocular surface protection.
