Overview

A combination of ivabradine and bisoprolol used for treating stable angina and heart failure. This combination leverages complementary mechanisms to reduce heart rate and improve cardiac function through different pathways. Ivabradine is a selective inhibitor of the If current in the sinoatrial node, which allows it to reduce heart rate without affecting blood pressure or cardiac contractility. Bisoprolol is a beta-blocker that reduces heart rate and blood pressure by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors. Clinical studies have shown that combining ivabradine with low-dose bisoprolol produces additional antianginal and anti-ischemic benefits compared to higher doses of bisoprolol alone. In patients with stable angina and moderate left ventricular dysfunction, the combination improved exercise capacity and chronotropic reserve. In heart failure treatment, the combination has shown promising results, reducing cardiovascular death and heart failure hospitalizations.
