Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GigaGen, a subsidiary of Grifols, is developing a recombinant polyclonal intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapeutic for the treatment of immunodeficiencies. This biologic therapy is engineered to provide broad-spectrum antibodies against multiple common disease pathogens, offering passive immunity to patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases whose immune systems are unable to produce adequate antibody levels. Utilizing a proprietary single-cell technology, GigaGen captures and recreates complete antibody repertoires from human donors to generate immortalized DNA libraries. This approach enables the consistent, scalable manufacturing of recombinant polyclonal products, overcoming the limitations of traditional plasma-derived IVIG which relies on continuous donor collection.
