This is a combination regimen of three pharmaceutical agents used primarily in the treatment of advanced or metastatic breast cancer, particularly HER2-positive and/or refractory cases. **Ixabepilone** is an epothilone-class antimicrotubule agent that stabilizes microtubules by binding to beta-tubulin, thereby inhibiting cell division. It is approved as monotherapy or in combination with capecitabine for metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer after failure of anthracycline and taxane therapies[5][6][7]. **Lapatinib** is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting both HER2/neu (ERBB2) and EGFR (ERBB1), indicated for use in combination with capecitabine for patients with HER2-overexpressing locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer whose disease has progressed following prior therapy including anthracyclines, taxanes, and trastuzumab[1][3][4]. **Capecitabine** is an oral prodrug converted to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in vivo, which inhibits thymidylate synthase and disrupts DNA synthesis. The triple combination has been investigated in clinical trials for patients with heavily pretreated metastatic breast cancer resistant to standard regimens[4].
