This is a combination regimen of ixazomib and thalidomide, both small molecule drugs used in the treatment of multiple myeloma. Ixazomib is an oral, reversible proteasome inhibitor that selectively inhibits the chymotrypsin-like activity of the 20S proteasome subunit β5, leading to apoptosis in multiple myeloma cells. Thalidomide is a first-generation immunomodulatory agent (IMiD) with anti-angiogenic and immunomodulatory properties; it acts by modulating the immune microenvironment and inhibiting tumor cell proliferation. The combination has been studied as part of multi-drug regimens for newly diagnosed or relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma, often alongside dexamethasone[2][1]. Both agents are administered orally.
