This entry refers to a hypothetical or unspecified combination of the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine (developed by Janssen, a pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson) and the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (developed by Moderna). Both are vaccines for the prevention of COVID-19 but use different platforms. The Janssen vaccine is an adenovirus vector-based vaccine (Ad26.COV2.S), delivering DNA encoding the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein via a non-replicating human adenovirus 26 vector[2][6][8]. The Moderna vaccine is an mRNA-based vaccine (mRNA-1273), which delivers messenger RNA encoding the spike protein encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles[3][8]. Each induces immunity against SARS-CoV-2 by stimulating production of neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses targeting the viral spike protein. There is no approved or recognized pharmaceutical product that combines both vaccines into a single formulation or regimen; however, both have been used separately as part of heterologous ("mix-and-match") vaccination strategies in some public health contexts.
