Drug intelligence / Profile preview
jasminum + calcium hydroxide refers to a combination medicament, most notably a novel endodontic formulation developed for root canal therapy. This combination typically involves calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) reinforced with titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles that are synthesized using a "green synthesis" method involving extracts from the *Jasminum* genus (such as *Jasminum sambac*). The formulation is designed to improve upon conventional calcium hydroxide treatments by enhancing antimicrobial efficacy and reducing postoperative pain in patients with symptomatic apical periodontitis. The calcium hydroxide component provides a high-pH environment (approximately 12.5) that is bactericidal and promotes the mineralization of periapical tissues. The *Jasminum*-derived nanoparticles and bioactive plant compounds (such as flavonoids and secoiridoids) provide additional anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by modulating inflammatory mediators. Beyond dentistry, traditional and experimental uses of *Jasminum* juice mixed with calcium hydroxide (slaked lime) have been explored for the treatment of cutaneous wounds and skin conditions due to their synergistic regenerative and antiseptic properties.
