Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jian-pi bu-shen jie-du-fang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction developed by Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is formulated based on the TCM principles of strengthening the spleen (Jian-pi), tonifying the kidney (Bu-shen), and clearing toxins (Jie-du). The formula is primarily investigated as an adjuvant or combination therapy for advanced malignancies, specifically stage IV colorectal cancer. In clinical trial ChiCTR1900022673, it is evaluated in combination with low-dose apatinib (a VEGFR-2 inhibitor) and S-1 (tegafur-gimeracil-oteracil) for patients who are intolerant to or have failed conventional chemotherapy. The decoction aims to improve patient quality of life, reduce treatment-related toxicity, and potentially enhance the efficacy of anti-angiogenic and cytotoxic agents.
