Overview

Jiawei Qing'e Fang + Erzhi Wan is a combination of two traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulas being investigated for the treatment of menopausal symptoms. Jiawei Qing'e Fang is a modified version of the classic Qing'e Fang, which traditionally includes *Eucommia ulmoides* (Du Zhong), *Psoralea corylifolia* (Bu Gu Zhi), and *Juglans regia* (Hu Tao Ren); the "Jiawei" (modified) version often adds herbs like *Dipsacus asper* (Xu Duan) to enhance its kidney-tonifying and bone-strengthening properties. Erzhi Wan is a simple two-herb formula consisting of *Ligustrum lucidum* (Nu Zhen Zi) and *Eclipta prostrata* (Mo Han Lian), used to nourish Yin and tonify the liver and kidneys. The combination is designed to address the "Kidney Yin and Yang deficiency" pattern often associated with menopause in TCM theory, aiming to alleviate vasomotor symptoms and prevent bone loss. Clinical research is primarily conducted by Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
