Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Jieyu Chufan Capsule is a Class 1.1 innovative Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) developed by Hebei Yiling Medical Research Institute and marketed by Yiling Pharmaceutical. Approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in December 2021, it is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate depression. The formulation is derived from classic TCM theories and prescriptions, specifically Banxia Houpu Decoction and Sini San, and is designed to address the TCM syndromes of liver qi stagnation and phlegm-heat internal harassment. Pharmacologically, the drug exerts its antidepressant and anxiolytic effects through multi-target modulation of the central nervous system. Studies indicate it increases the levels of key neurotransmitters including serotonin (5-HT), norepinephrine (NE), and dopamine (DA) in the brain, while also regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis to normalize stress responses.
