KB2115 + statin is a **combination therapy** consisting of KB2115 (eprotirome), a novel, selective thyroid hormone receptor agonist, and a statin, typically used for patients with **dyslipidemia** who are already receiving statin treatment. KB2115 (eprotirome) acts as a thyroid hormone receptor beta agonist, lowering LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and lipoprotein(a) beyond what statin alone achieves. Statins inhibit HMG-CoA reductase, reducing cholesterol synthesis. The combination offers additive or synergistic LDL-C reduction with good tolerability. In a phase IIb study, this dual therapy provided clinically significant LDL-C lowering, improved lipid profiles, and was safe and well tolerated, without altering markers of thyroid hormone status[4][2].
