Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Kebanon is an approved topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) developed and manufactured by Dae Hwa Pharmaceutical. It is formulated as a transdermal plaster (patch) containing ketoprofen as the active ingredient. Ketoprofen acts as a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. Kebanon is primarily indicated for the localized treatment of musculoskeletal pain and inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, muscle strains, and joint pain. The transdermal delivery system allows for direct application to the affected area, providing therapeutic concentrations at the site of injury while minimizing systemic exposure and associated gastrointestinal side effects compared to oral NSAIDs.
