Overview

SebDuo is a compounded topical combination of the imidazole antifungal ketoconazole (8%) and the mid-potent corticosteroid triamcinolone acetonide (0.4%). Formulated as a concentrate, it is designed to be mixed with a patient's regular shampoo for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp. Ketoconazole acts by inhibiting fungal lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase, thereby reducing the population of *Malassezia* yeast on the scalp, which is a key driver of seborrheic dermatitis. Triamcinolone acetonide acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to provide rapid anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effects, relieving itching and redness. Developed by MedCara, SebDuo is compounded and distributed under prescription by licensed pharmacies such as NuCara Pharmacy.
