Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ketoprofen + doxycycline is a combination of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and a tetracycline antibiotic. Ketoprofen inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin production to provide anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects. Doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing the association of aminoacyl-tRNA with the ribosomal A site. This combination has been studied for treating non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU) with evidence suggesting it may reduce recurrence rates compared to doxycycline monotherapy.
