Overview

Ketorolac + bromfenac is a combination of two nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used primarily in ophthalmology to manage pain and inflammation, especially following eye surgeries such as cataract extraction or refractive procedures. Both agents act by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX), thereby blocking prostaglandin synthesis, which mediates inflammation and pain. Ketorolac is a non-selective COX inhibitor with activity against both COX-1 and COX-2, while bromfenac shows greater selectivity for COX-2. This combination may offer enhanced analgesic efficacy and anti-inflammatory effects compared to monotherapy, with studies suggesting that both are effective for postoperative ocular pain control[3][4][5][6][8]. The drugs are typically administered topically as ophthalmic solutions.
