Overview

This drug is a multi-component pharmaceutical mixture used as a peribulbar block for ophthalmic surgeries, specifically studied by **Cairo University** for managing postoperative pain. It consists of two local anesthetics, **lidocaine** and **bupivacaine**, which provide rapid-onset and long-acting regional anesthesia, respectively, by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels. **Hyaluronidase** is included as an enzymatic adjuvant to degrade hyaluronic acid in the extracellular matrix, thereby increasing tissue permeability and facilitating the spread of the anesthetic agents. **Ketorolac**, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is added to the mixture to enhance the quality of the block and provide prolonged postoperative analgesia by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes.
