Overview

Ketorolac + naproxen is a combination of two nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used for pain management. Ketorolac is indicated for the short-term treatment (up to 5 days) of moderately severe acute pain that would otherwise require opioid analgesics, while naproxen is used to treat mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and fever. Both drugs exert their effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which are responsible for converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandins—key mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever. By blocking these enzymes, both agents reduce prostaglandin synthesis leading to decreased inflammation and analgesia. Ketorolac is considered more potent than most other NSAIDs but carries a higher risk of gastrointestinal side effects if used long-term[1][3][5][8].
