Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Klosterfrau Melissengeist (also known as Klosterfrau Melissa Spirit) is a traditional herbal medicinal product developed by M.C.M. Klosterfrau Healthcare. It is formulated as a hydroalcoholic distillate containing the essential oils of 13 medicinal plants, with lemon balm (*Melissa officinalis*) as its primary component, alongside elecampane, angelica, ginger, cloves, galangal, black pepper, gentian, nutmeg, bitter orange, cinnamon bark, cinnamon flower, and cardamom, in a 79% ethanol solution. Klosterfrau Melissengeist is approved for both internal (oral) and external (topical) use. Internally, it is traditionally used to alleviate psychovegetative and nervous disorders (such as nervousness, inner restlessness, tension, and sleep disturbances), functional gastrointestinal complaints (such as bloating, flatulence, and indigestion), and symptoms of the common cold. Externally, it is applied to support skin circulation and relieve localized musculoskeletal discomfort, including sore muscles, muscle tension, and nerve pain.
