KSP-1007 + meropenem is a combination of **KSP-1007**, a novel bicyclic boronate-based broad-spectrum β-lactamase inhibitor, and **meropenem**, a carbapenem antibiotic. KSP-1007 inhibits a broad range of β-lactamases, including both serine- and metallo-β-lactamases (Ambler class A, B, C, and D), enzymes that confer resistance to β-lactam antibiotics in Gram-negative bacteria. When combined, KSP-1007 restores the antibacterial activity of meropenem against carbapenem-resistant bacteria, including carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii. The combination is being developed primarily for severe infections such as complicated urinary tract infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections, hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia, and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia. The development is led by a collaboration between Sumitomo Pharma and the Kitasato Institute[1][2][3][5][7].
