Overview

L-759,633 is a small molecule cannabinoid agonist being developed by Immugen BioPharma as a non-hormonal treatment for genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). It is a non-psychoactive derivative of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that selectively targets the peripheral cannabinoid type 2 (CB2) receptor with approximately 163-fold selectivity over the CB1 receptor. By activating CB2 receptors highly expressed in vaginal tissue, L-759,633 aims to restore tissue thickness, improve structural integrity and barrier function, and restore glycogen expression to support a healthy microbiome. The compound is currently in preclinical development for conditions associated with GSM, including vulvovaginal atrophy, sexual dysfunction, and urinary (bladder) dysfunction.
