Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bioarginina® C is an oral combination nutraceutical containing 1.66 g of L-arginine and 500 mg of liposomal vitamin C. L-arginine is a semi-essential amino acid that serves as the primary substrate for nitric oxide synthase (NOS), leading to the production of nitric oxide (NO), which regulates vascular tone, endothelial function, and protein biosynthesis. The liposomal formulation of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) enhances absorption and provides potent antioxidant activity, which helps reduce oxidative stress and prevents the degradation of NO. This combination is designed to synergistically improve endothelial and mitochondrial function. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase 3 Mito-HF trial for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and has been investigated for the management of Long COVID and cardiac rehabilitation.
