Drug intelligence / Profile preview
L-carnitine + dihydrocapsiate + yeast hydrolysate (LDY) is a fixed-dose combination dietary supplement developed by Nestle in collaboration with Imperial College London for weight management and the treatment of overweight and obesity. The combination consists of L-carnitine tartrate, dihydrocapsiate (a non-pungent capsaicin analog), and DNF-10 (a protein yeast hydrolysate derived from *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*). L-carnitine facilitates fatty acid transport and beta-oxidation via carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1). Dihydrocapsiate acts as an agonist of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channel, which stimulates the sympathetic nervous system and enhances energy expenditure. Yeast hydrolysate regulates satiety and appetite by modulating gut-brain mediators, including the downregulation of ghrelin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) and the maintenance of leptin secretion. In clinical trials, the combination has been shown to reduce carbohydrate-derived energy intake, decrease waist circumference, and lower appetite composite scores in adults with overweight or obesity.
