Overview

L-NMMA + bradykinin is an experimental combination of two agents used primarily in research settings to investigate vascular and renal physiology. - **L-NMMA (NG-monomethyl-L-arginine)** is a non-selective inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase (NOS), thereby reducing the endogenous production of nitric oxide (NO), a key mediator of vasodilation and endothelial function. - **Bradykinin** is an endogenous peptide that acts as a potent vasodilator through activation of the bradykinin B2 receptor, leading to increased NO and prostaglandin release from endothelial cells. When administered together, this combination allows researchers to study the interplay between NO-mediated and kinin-mediated pathways in vascular tone regulation, coronary artery dilation, renal hemodynamics, and excretory functions. In human studies, pretreatment with L-NMMA significantly inhibits the vasodilatory effects induced by exogenous bradykinin administration[4][5]. This combination has been used to dissect mechanisms underlying ACE inhibitor-induced cardioprotection and renal function modulation[4][5][6].
