Overview

L. paracasei NPB01 + L. rhamnosus GG is an innovative postbiotic product (iPB) developed through the sequential fermentation of two Lacticaseibacillus species. Unlike live probiotics, this postbiotic consists of non-viable microbial products and metabolic byproducts that exert therapeutic effects without the need for live microorganisms. In preclinical models of breast cancer, including ER+/HER2-, triple-negative (MDA-MB-231), and HER2+ (SKBR3) subtypes, iPB has demonstrated significant antitumor activities. Its mechanism of action involves reducing cancer cell viability and migration, inducing apoptosis, and inhibiting inflammatory cytokine responses. Furthermore, iPB has been shown to upregulate HLA class I surface expression on breast cancer cells, which may enhance their immunogenicity and susceptibility to immune-mediated destruction. The product is being researched by the University of Naples Federico II and the Mayo Clinic for its potential in both the treatment and prevention of breast cancer.
