Lacidipine + telmisartan is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used for the treatment and prophylaxis of hypertension. Lacidipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that acts by inhibiting voltage-dependent L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively antagonizes the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, resulting in vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and lowered systemic vascular resistance. Telmisartan also exhibits partial agonist activity at peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), which may confer additional metabolic benefits. The combination provides synergistic antihypertensive effects by targeting different pathways involved in blood pressure regulation[5][3][7].
