Overview
Lactated Ringer's and Dextrose is a sterile, single-dose intravenous crystalloid solution containing sodium chloride, calcium chloride, sodium lactate, potassium chloride, and dextrose monohydrate. It is used for parenteral replacement of extracellular fluid and electrolytes, provides modest carbohydrate calories through dextrose, and has an alkalinizing effect because lactate is metabolized with consumption of hydrogen ions. The product is indicated in adults and pediatric patients as a source of water, electrolytes, and calories or as an alkalinizing agent.
