LACTIN-V + metronidazole

LACTIN-V + metronidazole is a combination therapeutic regimen developed by Osel Inc. for the treatment and prevention of recurrent bacterial vaginosis (BV). The regimen consists of a sequential administration: a standard 5-day course of metronidazole vaginal gel (0.75%) to eliminate anaerobic bacteria associated with BV, followed by the intravaginal application of LACTIN-V. LACTIN-V is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) containing a specific, naturally occurring human vaginal strain of *Lactobacillus crispatus* (CTV-05). This strain is hydrogen peroxide-producing and intrinsically resistant to metronidazole, allowing it to colonize the vaginal epithelium and restore a healthy, Lactobacillus-dominant microbiome. In a Phase 2b randomized controlled trial, the sequential administration of LACTIN-V after metronidazole significantly reduced the recurrence of BV at 12 weeks compared to placebo.
