Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum + pediococcus acidilactici is a probiotic combination therapy marketed under the brand name EQBIOTA (also known as AB-Intestin or i3.1). The formulation consists of three specific bacterial strains: *L. plantarum* CECT 7484, *L. plantarum* CECT 7485, and *P. acidilactici* CECT 7483. Developed by AB-Biotics, this live biotherapeutic product is primarily used to manage functional gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and fructose malabsorption. Its mechanism of action involves the restoration of gut microbiota balance, enhancement of intestinal barrier integrity (reducing intestinal permeability), and modulation of local and systemic immune responses. Clinical studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in improving gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating and abdominal pain by addressing underlying dysbiosis and gut barrier dysfunction.
