Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lactobacillus acidophilus + Lactobacillus salivarius is a combination of two specific species of probiotic bacteria. These live microorganisms are intended to confer a health benefit when consumed, primarily by supporting gastrointestinal health. Both L. acidophilus and L. salivarius are natural inhabitants of the human gut and oral cavity. [18] Their proposed mechanism of action involves modulating the gut microbiome, competing with pathogenic bacteria for nutrients and adhesion sites, producing antimicrobial substances like lactic acid and bacteriocins, and modulating the host's immune system. [6, 11, 16] This combination is typically available as a dietary supplement and has been investigated for its potential role in managing inflammatory conditions and supporting oral health. [1, 15]
