Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of two probiotic strains (Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5 and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BB-12) administered orally, along with topical fluticasone propionate 0.005% ointment. This combination has been studied for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in adults, with efficacy shown to depend on the C-159T polymorphism of the CD14 receptor gene. The probiotics may modulate chronic inflammation through activation of the CD14 receptor, while fluticasone propionate provides anti-inflammatory effects as a corticosteroid.
