Overview

**Lactobacillus crispatus LCr86 + ornidazole** is a combination therapy under investigation for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis. The formulation combines a specific strain of probiotic bacteria, *Lactobacillus crispatus* LCr86, with the nitroimidazole antibiotic ornidazole. Ornidazole acts mainly by disrupting the DNA of anaerobic bacteria, exerting bactericidal effects against common pathogens implicated in bacterial vaginosis, such as *Gardnerella vaginalis*. The probiotic strain is intended to restore and stabilize the vaginal microbiota through lactic acid production, pH reduction, and competitive inhibition of pathogens, thereby potentially reducing recurrence rates of infection. Combination therapy aims to improve cure rates and prevent recurrence of bacterial vaginosis compared to antibiotic or probiotic use alone[1][5].
