Overview

Lactobacillus plantarum CECT 9422 + Bifidobacterium longum CECT 30257 is a probiotic combination developed by AB-Biotics (a Kaneka company) for the management of infant colic and functional gastrointestinal disorders. The formulation consists of two specific bacterial strains: *Lactiplantibacillus plantarum* (formerly *Lactobacillus plantarum*) CECT 9422 and *Bifidobacterium longum* CECT 30257. These strains were selected for their ability to survive gastrointestinal transit, adhere to the intestinal mucosa, and inhibit the growth of gas-producing bacteria such as *Enterobacteriaceae*. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this combination significantly reduces daily crying and fussing time in colicky infants by modulating the gut microbiota and potentially exerting anti-inflammatory effects. It is primarily marketed as a dietary supplement to support digestive health in neonates and infants.
