Overview

This is a combination dietary supplement containing the probiotic strain Lactobacillus reuteri (specifically Limosilactobacillus reuteri DSM 17938) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). The probiotic component helps maintain or restore healthy gut flora and may support gastrointestinal function and immune modulation. Vitamin D3 is essential for calcium homeostasis, bone health, and immune function. Clinical studies suggest that this combination can improve serum levels of 25(OH)D (a marker of vitamin D status), enhance gastrointestinal function in children with functional GI disorders, reduce IgE levels (suggesting an immunomodulatory effect), and may provide ancillary benefits in allergic diseases such as asthma[1][2][4][6]. The mechanism involves both direct effects of cholecalciferol on the vitamin D receptor to regulate calcium metabolism and immune responses, as well as the probiotic's ability to modulate gut microbiota composition and potentially enhance absorption of nutrients including vitamin D.
