Overview

This probiotic combination consists of two specific bacterial strains: *Lactobacillus reuteri* ADR-1 and *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* GM-020. Developed by Bio-Resource Inc., the combination is primarily investigated for its therapeutic potential in oral health and metabolic disorders. In oral health, it is used to treat chronic periodontitis by competitively inhibiting the growth of pathogens such as *Porphyromonas gingivalis* and reducing local inflammation. In metabolic health, the strains have demonstrated the ability to improve glycemic control in type 2 diabetes and reduce body fat in obesity through immunomodulatory effects and the regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF and IL-6. The *L. reuteri* ADR-1 strain is frequently utilized in a heat-killed (paraprobiotic) form, while *L. rhamnosus* GM-020 is typically administered as a live probiotic.
