Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This probiotic combination consists of five specific Lactobacillus strains: *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* GG (ATCC 53103), *Lactobacillus crispatus* LBV88 (DSM 22566), *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* LBV96 (DSM 22560), *Lactobacillus jensenii* LBV116 (DSM 22567), and *Lactobacillus gasseri* LBV150 (DSM 22583). Originally isolated from the vaginal microbiota of healthy pregnant women, these strains are formulated for oral administration to restore and maintain a healthy, lactobacilli-dominant vaginal environment. The combination works by colonizing the vaginal tract, where the bacteria produce lactic acid to lower pH, generate hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins to inhibit pathogens, and competitively exclude harmful bacteria from adhering to the vaginal epithelium. It has been investigated in clinical trials for the treatment of vaginal dysbiosis and bacterial vaginosis, as well as for improving pregnancy outcomes such as reducing the risk of preterm birth and managing gestational diabetes mellitus.
