Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A probiotic combination therapy comprising the specific bacterial strains *Ligilactobacillus salivarius* PS11603 (formerly *Lactobacillus salivarius*) and *Bifidobacterium longum* subsp. *infantis* PS10402. Developed by Bened Biomedical, this formulation is designed to promote the early establishment of a healthy intestinal microbiota in preterm infants, who often experience delayed or abnormal gut colonization. The product is a biologic probiotic formulation containing live bacterial strains. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT03701906), the combination demonstrated the ability to enhance earlier colonization of *Lactobacillus* and *Bifidobacterium* species in the guts of preterm infants compared to placebo. By establishing these beneficial microbes, the therapy aims to support immune development and gut barrier function in this vulnerable population.
