Overview

Lactoplantibacillus plantarum + Levilactobacillus brevis is a probiotic combination product consisting of two specific bacterial strains: *Lactoplantibacillus plantarum* KABP-051 (CECT 7481) and *Levilactobacillus brevis* KABP-052 (CECT 7480). Developed by AB-Biotics, this live biotherapeutic product is designed to colonize the oral cavity and exert antimicrobial activity against key periodontopathogens, including *Porphyromonas gingivalis*, *Treponema denticola*, and *Fusobacterium nucleatum*. The combination works through competitive exclusion and the production of antimicrobial substances, effectively reducing dental plaque and gingival inflammation. It has been clinically evaluated in randomized controlled trials for the management of gingivitis, the reduction of dental plaque, and the mitigation of post-operative pain following mandibular third molar extractions. The strains are selected for their low acidogenic potential and lack of transmissible antibiotic resistance genes, making them suitable for oral health applications.
