Overview
Lactose + carob gum is a combination product used primarily as a thickening agent in infant formulas to help manage gastroesophageal reflux in infants. Carob gum (also known as locust bean gum) is a natural galactomannan polysaccharide extracted from the seeds of the carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua). When combined with lactose, it creates a thickening effect that helps reduce reflux episodes and regurgitation in infants by increasing the viscosity of formula upon contact with stomach acid.
