Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Relux L is an oral laxative combination formulation containing lactulose and polyethylene glycol (PEG 4000). Developed by Eskag Pharma, it is primarily indicated for the treatment of chronic or temporary constipation and the management of hepatic encephalopathy. Lactulose acts as an osmotic laxative and prebiotic, drawing water into the colon to soften stools and promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, while also reducing blood ammonia levels in hepatic encephalopathy. Polyethylene glycol functions as an osmotic agent that retains water in the intestinal lumen, increasing stool volume and facilitating comfortable bowel movements without causing sudden urgency.
