LAE102 + tirzepatide is an investigational combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of obesity. LAE102 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the **activin receptor type IIA (ActRIIA)**, developed by Laekna Therapeutics. By antagonizing ActRIIA, LAE102 is designed to increase muscle mass and reduce fat mass, potentially addressing the muscle loss often associated with significant weight reduction. Tirzepatide, developed by Eli Lilly, is a dual **glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP)** and **glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)** receptor agonist that promotes weight loss through appetite suppression and improved metabolic control. The combination aims to achieve "high-quality weight loss" by maximizing fat reduction while preserving or increasing lean muscle mass.
