Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an **oral fixed-dose combination tablet** containing **lafutidine**, a histamine H2 receptor antagonist, and **irsogladine maleate**, a gastroprotective agent. Lafutidine reduces gastric acid secretion by competitively inhibiting histamine H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells. Irsogladine maleate enhances gastric mucosal protection via multiple mechanisms, including activation of cyclic AMP, promotion of nitric oxide synthesis, opening of ATP-sensitive potassium channels, increasing endogenous prostaglandins, activating TRPV1 channels, and possessing antioxidant properties. The combination is investigated for **gastrointestinal mucosal protection and ulcer prevention or healing**, especially in conditions associated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use, gastritis, or peptic ulcers.
