Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lanolin + petrolatum is an over-the-counter topical ointment combination used as a skin protectant and emollient. The formulation typically contains lanolin (15.5%) and petrolatum (53.4%) as active ingredients. It functions by creating an occlusive physical barrier on the skin's surface, which traps moisture and prevents transepidermal water loss. This combination is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of diaper rash, protection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns, and relief of chapped or cracked skin and lips. It also helps protect the skin from the drying effects of wind and cold weather.
