Overview

This is a combination of three active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Lanreotide** is a long-acting somatostatin analog used to treat acromegaly, gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs), and carcinoid syndrome. It works by binding to somatostatin receptors, inhibiting the secretion of growth hormone and other hormones[4][5]. - **Diosmectite** is a natural aluminosilicate clay with adsorbent properties, commonly used as an antidiarrheal agent. It acts locally in the gut by binding toxins, bacteria, and water, thereby protecting the gastrointestinal mucosa and reducing stool frequency. - **Loperamide** is an opioid receptor agonist that acts on mu-opioid receptors in the gut wall to slow intestinal motility. This increases fluid absorption from fecal matter and reduces diarrhea symptoms[1][2][3][7]. This combination would theoretically be used for symptomatic management of diarrhea or gastrointestinal disorders where both hormonal control (lanreotide), mucosal protection/adsorption (diosmectite), and antimotility effects (loperamide) are desired.
