This combination therapy is a quadruple regimen used for the eradication of *Helicobacter pylori* infection. It consists of a proton pump inhibitor (lansoprazole), two antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin), and a bismuth compound (bismuth subcitrate). Lansoprazole reduces gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase pump, which increases the stability and efficacy of the antibiotics in the gastric environment. Amoxicillin and clarithromycin act as bactericidal agents against *H. pylori* by inhibiting cell wall synthesis and protein synthesis, respectively. Bismuth subcitrate provides a cytoprotective effect on the gastric mucosa and possesses direct antimicrobial activity against the bacteria. This specific regimen was evaluated by Shandong University in a Phase 4 clinical trial focusing on elderly patients, utilizing a half-dose of clarithromycin to potentially reduce side effects while maintaining therapeutic efficacy.
